Anthony Smith

Anthony started The Law Office of Anthony Ray Smith after his previous position as a Felony Prosecutor at the Galveston County District Attorney's Office. Anthony now focuses on representing individuals in their efforts of solving difficult legal issues and asserting their rights while seeking justice.

EXPERIENCE

Anthony has worked in three separate District Attorney's Offices in different capacities. He began at the Kleberg County District Attorney's Office, followed by the Harris County District Attorney's Office, and then accepted a full-time position as an Assistant District Attorney in Galveston County, where he worked until he opened his own law practice. He's always possessed a passion in working within the criminal justice system and is now committed to passionately working for those who have unfortunately been subjected to that system. Anthony has experience with all types of criminal cases and the endless amounts of contests they may bring. These contested matters include trials, suppression hearings, bond reductions, appeals, expungements, non-disclosures, probation matters, revocation hearings, etc. Anthony has also worked at a globally leading legal service provider where he worked with Fortune 500 clients and their Legal Departments. His position gave him an opportunity to not only utilize his legal education, but also his business experience and background. He assisted client's General Counsel and worked with the sales and procurement teams to draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements. Along with these departments, he developed practical business and legal solutions to complete and close contracts.

TRIAL LAWYER

Trial, on occasion, could be a necessary phase of any case. It will always remain an integral part of our legal process in nearly every area of law. As a result, the view should always be to prepare every case as if it will be tried. Anthony has tried a substantial amount of trials and has handled numerous other contested hearings. The final decision remains with the individual when deciding if trial is the next phase. After being counseled and advised, any client can feel confident that Anthony will be prepared to put the best possible case forward in front of a jury or judge. Anthony is committed to providing exceptional and effective representation when working towards the greatest potential outcome regardless of the situation. As an advocate, Anthony will handle all criminal matters and select civil matters in the courtroom whenever called upon.

EDUCATION

Anthony earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. During law school he made it a priority to become an advocate. He was a member of the Mock Trial and the Alternative Dispute Resolution teams where he traveled the country and competed against other law students in contested matters such as trials, arbitrations, and complex negotiations. Prior to graduation, Anthony was presented with the Order of Barristers award, an award providing national recognition for individuals who excelled in advocacy and service at their schools. He received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University at Kingsville where he graduated cum laude. Anthony majored in Business Management, minored in Political Science and participated in numerous organizations and honor societies, one being Delta Sigma Pi, the largest co-ed business fraternity in the United States.

LOCAL

Anthony grew up in Friendswood, Texas, right on the county line of Harris and Galveston County. He briefly lived in Kingsville during his undergraduate years than returned to Houston upon graduation. Houston, Galveston, and all of the surrounding areas are home. He enjoys representing all clients throughout the Houston metropolitan area. Anthony is available to represent throughout the State of Texas and will provide committed, responsive, and focused representation at the outset.
